I know this has been asked a thousand times before but how soon can I decorate my cake. I am using buttercream icing with some fondant. I don't have the fridge space to store it but want to have it all done on Thursday for a Saturday party. Do you think it will be okay? Not sure what else to do. I would cover it but other than that I don't have a lot of choices. It's too tall for the fridge too.

What's the rule on this?

Thanks so much

Thursday should be ok for Saturday - if you can't do it any later.

As long as you do not have filling that needs to be refrigerated you should be fine leaving the cake out. I use lightweight garbage bags cut open to lay over the top of cake after it has crusted, when they have to sit for awhile. This will keep any dust or gnats or whatevery from getting on your cake. Also make sure it is not too hot, that would could your icing to break down.

Thanks for your help on this matter. There is no filling just frosting. I will cover it to keep the dust and stuff away. Thanks
