Ok This Could Be A Potential Disaster :(

I didn't know where to put this post because it is not YET a disaster..truth is I dont know what it is...See I got this call about 3 hours ago from a very nice older lady (70ish) that is what I would call a weekly "client" . She always orders from me...but that might change. See she called TODAY...I had no plans no cakes in the freezer NO PS, no vanilla in the house ...all of this was on my grocery list for tomorrow. But she called and pleaded with me. "Oh I have company coming really soon please Christi can you make me a cake..doesn't matter what flavor or what style, but it happens to be one of my oldest friends who works at The Brown Hotel (Ritzy Hotel in Louisville)
. Now if this is management from this place they have seen awesome let me tell you...And I am just a NOBODY cake decorator/baker in NOWHERE Ky. AND it happens to be their birthday..Double
. So I say oh ok....Knowing it just had to feed 4 I rushed out and got some ingredients together...and even, per her request put the cake on the stand she had gotten ME for doing a cake for her a couple of weeks ago
, she didn't want it in a box she wanted me to hand deliver ON the stand
. Another potential disaster!!!! Anyways this is what I came up with..no names didn't know it...nothing...and I HATE it...Please CC friends tell me this cake isn't going to cause me to lose her as a client because of the way it looks. ![]()
Sorry this is so long....
I know....but I didn't have a whole lot of time with the bow and when I made it...well....you see what I get for not thinking
The bow is awful..and the cake looks well ...so unprofessional. And she KNOWS that it erks me to no end to get a last minute request. ![]()
It is cute. And you did what you could with the amount of time that you had. She should still order from you b/c you came through for her on very short notice!
I think the cake is just adorable!!! And since it's only for 4 people it's perfect!!! I do have to agree though the bow kind of screams at you and makes the cake look ALOT smaller then it really is... maybe find a smaller bow before you deliver ![]()
Ooooh ok well it looked great anyway!!!! I'm sure she'll call to tell you how wonderful it was and how happy she is that you came thru in such short notice! ![]()
I think it looks adorable! The bow, which is fine, goes quite well with the eyelet lace (like you'd see on a denim skirt with lace...very country shabby chic, I say). Just cute as can be.
It looks fine. The bow was a bit much but for a last minute thing she can't expect your usual work.
you are freaking out...the cake is adorable and the client realizes that this was short notice and will explain that to her guests I am sure. Calm down, it is going to be fine and this woman will always remember that you went out of your way to accomidate her even though you do not do last min orders, thus making her feel very VIP.
You are good, drink some wine and chill, $20 says you get a glowing call tomorrow ![]()
You're kidding ~ right? I thought I was going to scroll down to something horrible, but instead found your adorable cake. If this woman stops ordering from you over this ~ she's nuts!
I think it's adorable in all aspects, and actually the bow gives a bit of whimsy. It reminds me of when little kids play dress-up and wear their parents clothes and they are sagging off them or way to big. Don't worry about it, she is getting a great cake especially for short notice.

What scares me about this order is though that the person that is coming to dinner with her will tell her to go elsewhere.... I just hope that it tastes good...because there was nothing on these layers to trim and therefore could not taste.....OH MY ... * sigh *
Relax! It's a cute cake, and while the bow is big for my tastes, I don't think it qualifies the cake as a disaster! In fact, I think the whole cake goes really well with the cake stand. Reminds me of a cute country kitchen. Regardless of who is coming to dinner and whether or not they work in a fancy shmancy hotel, the nice old lady was your client. Clearly she likes you and your cakes, heck she gave you a cake stand! I highly doubt she'll be convinced to start getting her "goods" elsewhere. Have YOU ever tried to change an old lady's mind? 'Nuff said!

oh will you stop. Reguardless of what this woman says your client is going to defend her decision. I would hope that someone who is as "upper crust" as you have made this woman out to be would have enough decorum to accpet this lovely guesture from this lady without complaint. Even if she does complain which I seriously doubt she would like I said this lady is going to defend HER decesion to call you. Also like I said before this lady realizes that you did not have to do this cake and that it was rushed due to being last min. And besides that cake is adorable!!! Now stop or I am going to send someone after you with a wooden spoon ![]()

oK, now take a sec. and STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!! You did what you could do in the time you had. She, them, all should be impressed that you could, would, and did do something at all. For her to even put you on the spot shows how much she LOVES and TRUSTs your cakes. You did a WONDERFUL job on such a short time limit. IF she feels like it was not up to par to what you can do, then she will tell them this is what she can do on a WHim, Imagine what she can do when she HAS the time!!!
Relax ::::::::

((((HUGS)))) "I" think it looks GREAT!! ![]()
