My first fondant "rose". It is not too bad, but I have no idea what to charge for hand made flowers. What do you all charge? Could not attach pic, but I am posting it in my album. Please, give me your 2 cents.

Thanks, Chikki! I like the way it looks, but they do take a little time.
I am wondering how you price these.
Anyone else have a set price?

This is a really hard question. I made over 75 of them for my sister's bridal shower cake...they were free of course. While I was making them I was trying to figure out what I would charge for them...they take so much time! Maybe you could figure your time and charge by the hour? It took me 9 hours to make 75, so I figured that's like 8 roses per hour. Maybe charge $1.00 per rose? I don't know. That sounds expensive to me, but it IS a lot of work!

How the heck is $1 each expensive? These should be as much or more than fresh flowers. DO NOT undersell yourself.

The last time I made roses I charged $8 for fuller 2 1/2"diameter rose and $5.00 for each medium rose.

Now I sell the ready made roses from sweet insprations, I feel the others are not valuable for me and I don't have to have a big head and say I hand made eveything. I really don't have time to make all those flowers. Most brides are willing to save on the flowers. Every once in a while they want to pay more and I think it's your money.

I don't know how big the rose was (it was very nice, by the way), but $2 per flower would not be too much. It looks like it was a small rose. I guess you could charge $1 per inch diameter! icon_smile.gif

HAHA!!!! You made me laugh out loud and my husband is giving me strange looks. I guess you're right, I do tend to undersell myself. It's nice to get a straightforward reminder of that every once in a while.

I just went through the same thing...just Friday I decided to charge .50 each for my roses. I felt like people wouldn't want them if I charged $1, but believe me, if I get enough orders, I will bump up my price (kind of like my hairdresser does everytime I go in!!)

If you are afraid to make money you should not have a business.
Not to be ugly! If you can't make money you just won't be able to stay in business.
