Supposedly, I won a bid for an Elmo cake pan. I paid for it through PayPal. After awaiting a reasonable time and not receiving it, I emailed the seller - no response. I contacted Ebay who emailed me: "I should follow the right procedures on these situations.... blah, blah, blah", which I complied with. Now after a couple of weeks of the back and forth the next step is to contact PayPal who answered my complaint in a very polite way. (keep awaiting we'll investigate this problem.... blah, blah, blah.....) Now the complaint turned into a dispute, I received another message from PayPal - the seller does not own any bank account. GREAT!!!!, but they're investigating the individual and I will be notified of the final outcome. After about 5 weeks into the issue, PayPal sends me an email apologyzing for the situation BUT they cannot reimburse my money....HELLOOOO.....if they can't, who will? Now I go back to Ebay, well...surprise!!! "if you buy their insurance" they will refund you some money. In this instance, should I'd bought insurance, I'd be entitled to be refunded with ONE DOLLAR!!!!!! BIG @#^%#@ deal. Presently, I feel very hesitant to deal with either one of them ever again. If PayPal will not reimburse our money, why do we need them for? We might as well pay with a money order or certified check, what do you think? Regarding Ebay's policies...they should been reviewed to protect the people who keep them in business.
I don't get that
, I've had a few things go 'missing' after paying for things, and them supposedly being sent. When I've filed a claim, I've always been fully reimbursed, so long as it was within 60 days of the purchase date. I really don't understand why they aren't reimbursing you ![]()
What a crock!! Sorry you are going through this.
What's the seller's ID on eBay?
It is very important to research the folks you are buying from - I make sure the check their feedback scores before bidding on any item. That is not going to do you any good now though. ![]()
I have never had any situation that I needed to get money returned, but I know folks who have, and paypal is usually on the side of the buyer. What is the name of the person who you bought the pan from? (so the rest of us can buyer beware there)
Hope the situation improves for you.
I agree..ebay really should review their policies. I have never not received a product, but I have had a couple of non payments for my auctions. That's why the feedback is soooo important.
Someone posted this great website where you can check the negative feedback from ebayers.

Unfortunately, usually the best you can do is leave them negative feedback. I know this doesn't help you get your $$$'s back, but it helps others in the longrun.
BTW.. who was the seller??
I don't know if you did or not, but always, always ALWAYS check a sellers feedback!
But, sometimes, a perfect seller will mess up.
Paypal should have refunded your money-that is what they're there for! Did the amount of time you had to do all of this end? There's usually a time limit, like a dispute will only stay open for so long.
Did the seller communicate with you in the dispute?
Did you open a dispute with ebay as well?
How many neg. remarks does this seller have?
Not too long ago, I had someone buy something from me off of ebay, only to wait almost 3 wks for payment. Well, in those 3 wks they had received 3 negative remarks. So, I figured they'd never pay, but they did. Now, they're no longer a member. So...is this buyer still a member?
One other thing.......pp said they don't even have a bank account? They have to have something on file with pp!
That doesn't make sense. In order to sell on Ebay you HAVE to provide a bank account number.(at least I did when I sold something a few yrs ago) Why is paypal telling you she/he doesn't have one? sounds fishy to me. Good Luck
I bought 2 items from ebay about a week apart. Never received them!. Paypal gave my money back on one because they still had a bank account. I lost my money on the other one because they had closed their account and moved. They both had good ebay ratings. They are no longer registered ebay sellers.
I'm sorry that you've had so much trouble with getting your pan. Did you pay through paypal with a credit card? Whenever I've had a problem with something I've purchased not being what the seller claimed etc. and haven't been able to work it out with the seller, I've contaced my credit card company and they have refunded the money.
The last time I had to write a letter explaining what I did to resolve and they told me it would be a temporary chargeback until the seller responded. They gave me back the money and I never heard from the company again. That's why I always use a credit card or don't purchase.
Hope this helps!
Sorry to hear about your problem. I had a problem with this company in australia , I was buying UGG boots. Well the company sold to a new owner took my money did not process my order. Well lets say after paypal was done with them by boots were here in two weeks. Money was accepted as payment. I sent all my e-mails - paypal looked up confirmation, then a letter was sent to them from me about inter fraud and the listing of the numbers. They aploigized and went after the former owner. I have only had one problem with e-bay, now I order a recipe = paid for it - the lady e-mail me three times says "I'am sorry for not sending it, blah, blah, blah." Never recieved, contact e-bay and paypal. The lady threatened to say negatives things about me about not paying. She got the money I proved it with paypal. I got my money back. Now my husband laughed at me for making a stink about it because it was a $1 but I looked at if she took $100 or $200 from buyers before someone complained about not receiving their stuff. Some people say it only a $1 but how many of those did she get with a compalints. Her account is closed probably open up under another name but I have not seen any of recipes for sale.
Did the seller have proof of shipment? I thought they were required to show proof of shipment and proof of delivery. I thought I read that somewhere when I was shipping stuff. Insurance is only good if the product breaks or is not delivered as expected. (And even then the USPS can get away with screwing you over! "You didn't pack it well enough" or "We left it in a safe place" even if it was tossed around or left on your front step in view of 1000s of people)
Even then, if they took your money, where is it? Unless you paid cash, it has to be somewhere.

To sell on eBay you have to provide an account but to accept Paypal payment, you do not. It just means you are 'unverified'. If you have a CC Paypal acct, chances are you would have been refunded. If you paid using your bank acct, it is more tricky.
As a seller, Paypal is a slippery slope since literally anyone paying with a CC can claim non-rcpt and almost always get their money back, a lot of the time scamming the seller. I always use delivery confirmation for all shipments but this doesn't do jack since last year, I shipped a $40 costume w/ DC that just disappeared...She had proof she had paid, I had proof I had shipped and it never showed up. They took the money back out of my acct. Postal insurance is a joke and wouldn't have helped since they will only pay out if there is clearly damage during shipment that was clearly not made by poor packaging..... it is all a risk, quite frankly.
That said, I'm sorry you are having all this trouble and it is odd that the seller hasn't responded.
