I have a friend who has been decorating for many years that teaches at Tomball & Cyfair colleges. She is going to start teaching at Montgomery college soon. You could contact the colleges for info. Her classes are nothing like wilton's! They are way more intense! I have another friend who does classes in her bakery/cake supply shop. It's called S & J Cake Supply and it's on 1960 and Veterans Memorial. Her name is Elizabeth. I don't know alot about her classes but I know her work is awesome and her decorating style is more "up to date" than my friend that teaches at the colleges. I hope you all find what you are looking for!

If you are in Sugarland, you should check out Cake Craft Shoppe....they offer classes at all levels. If you want info on them, you can PM me or google their shop.

I told my husband I wanted to move to Sugarland just to be closer....you're already there!!!

Hello Houston/Sugarland

I took my first classes from Michaels/Wilton and my instructor was Cathy Nance Highway 1960 and extremely close to Beltway 8 (other side of Willowbrook Mall. She is wonderful!!!! She even gives classes on Sunday! Here is her e-mail address and if you don't want to go there e-mail her as she will be more than happy to tell you of someone in your area! LaceyLoo she also teaches at the Spring Michaels She is also president of a cake club which I have not been able to join yet, but its called Flower Power. She is an excellant teacher and is always available on e-mail if you run into trouble. mailto:[email protected]]

You might want to look up www.makeacake.com I think there is a class going on this Saturday. I would love to go but my daughter has her first homecoming dance that night, so I will have to skip it this time. I think the class is fall/winter decorations(halloween, thanksgiving and christmas)

I'm pretty much self-taught, but I took a gum paste class from Sheila Brooks of The Cake Craft Shoppe in Sugar Land. Plus I shop at her store all the time! LOL! I'm sure her buttercream classes are first rate. She is really sweet, I just love her. She's hosting a class by Earlene Moore that I'm taking in a few weeks! I'm sooo excited! Her shop is on Hwy 6, between Williams Trace and Settlers Way, next to a dollar store.

I was just about to suggest this place. I am learning on my own(and through this site icon_wink.gif, but w/3 small kiddos at home, I cannot take classes at HL or Michaels during the week. I finally went to Make a Cake to buy a few things and the owners are THE nicest people. They were giving me tips as I was shopping. Their classes are on the site. Give them a call or visit their site. And their prices were cheaper than HL and Michaels.
