I have really been wanting to make a cake. I have so many ideas that I want to try but right now I have NO reason to make a cake and I hate to throw a cake out.
I could give another one to my neighbors but I've given them so many cakes I think they could be tired of them.
I guess I will just have to wait until next month. I am making my uncle (who loves the desert) the Colette Petters cactus cake. I am excited about doing that one.
I bought the pumpkin pan from William Sonoma so I could do the Cinderella coach but again, no one to make it for right now.
Anyone here need a cake? LOL

I had the same problem last week. I sent out an email to friends and co-workers letting them know that I had "room for last minute orders". Low and behold if I didn't get a couple! Woowho!!! ![]()
Can't you guys bake and donate to goodwill or a soup kitchen that type of thing??? Or how about school staff rooms...do you have kids in school? You could drop off a cake at the office and the teachers could eat them knowing they came from a students mother they wouldn't have to worry about where it came from...If you try the school thing make sure you send business cards or leave a contact number, it's good free advertising and great cake practice too! Then there is my personal favorite if your neighbors are tired of cake, all you have to do is make sure they don't know who left it, then they can't return it...I call it "ring and run"... Set the cake on their door step, RING the bell, and RUN like hell!!! (that's patent pending by the way...LOL) Hope my ideas were helpfull!!
I have also donated to silent auctions. We have had people doing fundraisers for cancer or burn victims to help family with expenses. I will also be giving my daughters teachers cakes this year. I am also going to take cakes to a convience store where we go get ours pops. There are college boys that work there and would probably eat wood. Not to say my cakes are that bad. But I usually get free pop for a while after I take them some goodies. At Christmas I took a bunch of cookies and baked pumpkin and banana bread. Had free pop for about 4 months. So if you have a place you go all the time and you appreciate them let them know it
They will love you for life. Especially if they are college students ![]()

If you can't donate one, you can always make a dummy.
I work in a restaurant with food/desserts all around us all day long and yet when I bring in a cake/cookies.....gone in 5 minutes!!
Everyone loves home baked! I've even taken in desserts that my kids refused and work ate it! We may be used to this, but a lot of people never get home baked, so it's a real treat for them. Like someone has posted.........Bake and they will come!
All the ideas above are great! Any of those folks would love to have a free, great tasting cake. I am doing one for a contest soon & I plan to donate it to a local home for recovering addicts. They don't get much, other than rice & beans, so they are thrilled to get fresh fruit, goodies, meat, etc.
Go ahead & make your cake & find some lucky someone to receive it!!! ![]()
Get to know the guys n gals at your nearest fire station. The best thing about them is that every day there's a different set of people!!!
Ditto on the fire station!! I've taken goodies to them around the holidays and they are SO appreciative! Also, the local police dept or sheriff's office whichever is closer to you.
I also was thinking the fire station! But the local police station, State Police patrol, etc... Think service personnel and see what you come up with.
I'm taking my practice cakes to church. They'll eat ANYTHING after mass. LOLOL
Donate them. Give them to some small shop that you always go into. Drop them off at your insurance agent's office. Or your bank. Think of all the places you go during a day, and the people you see on a regular basis.
Explain you're practicing and you hate to just throw them out.
I have a fire department very close to me and was going to take them a cake but thought that durning these crazy times of ours they may not eat something brought in from a stranger. I guess I could walk over there and ask if they would eat it.
I also go visit my uncle in an assisted living place. I could take one there. I just thought they may not like it unless there was enough to offer to everyone.
I do go to church but don't the people there well enough to know if they would eat a cake I brought in or not. But most likely they would huh?
I guess I will just go ahead and make one and bring it in. If they eat it, great. If not, I won't know. They could toss it out and it wouldn't really be any different to me because I've given it away.
I did think of going to Craigs List and offer to make a cake for cost only if someone needed it. But then again, who knows what crazy people that could drum up.
Thanks for the ideas everyone! As always you came through again.
Joanne
