How Would You Work This Schedule?

I have to bake a 3 tier cake, frost and cover it in fondant & I have to make a lighthouse cake, frost and cover it. All by Thursday morning when we will be driving both cakes up to Utah (14 hour drive).
The first cake (the 3 tier one) is for a party on Friday night. The lighthouse cake is for a party on Thursday night.
How would you handle this? I can decorate the 1st cake before the party on Friday, so my original plan was to bake it here in Arizona and then assemble it & decorate it Friday morning (the party is at 4). It's a very simple (VERY SIMPLE) design but I'm working at my dad's house and not in my normal work environment.

I would bake an decorate the light house cake defnitely before I left for Utah. Good luck with getting it there safely. As for the three tier cake eI would definitely go ahead with your idea of pre baking and then just assembly the day of. Do you crumb coat and fondant already then all you will have to do is final touches and assemble.
Even though they're going in a car for 14 hours? I am just nervous that the cakes won't withstand the trip (melting, etc).
