I have seen cakes here that have little things sticking out of them that look like phone cord... the twisted up part. They look firm and they are always colorful and usually I see them sticking out the top of the cakes.

I don't know what they are called, but I need to find some pics of cakes with them. I swear I saw one this weekend and saved it to my favs, but now I can't find it. I think the cake had Tinkerbell on it - but I looked at Tink cakes and don't see it.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about here?

Thanks!

They don't have a 'real' name. people call the different things, like gumpaste spirals.

Are talking about those spiral that are on the present cakes. They are called curlicues and are made out of fondant w/ gum-tex mixed in. You roll out the fondant to 1/16 inch thick and cut the into the width you want them and just wrap around a dowel and slide off and let dry.

Yes, curlicues, I can't find the Tink one, but here is a present cake that has them on it.

Thanks for the help!

I tried searching for 'curli'... and came up with several pictures of curling cakes! icon_lol.gif Who knew? By the way, BlakesCakes did an excellent baby shower cake with a curling theme! I love her cakes!

Anyways, I'll try searching for bows to find more pics. Wish I could find that Tink cake.

Thanks again!
