I am going to buy the Kroma Jet airbrush from Kopykake airbrush and was wondering how fast do you go through the colors? I do about 10-12 cakes a month and my business is slowly growing. So, I wanted to know if one order of the colors will be enough or do I need to order 2? Also, are the Kroma Kolors the only ones you can use with the Kroma Jet airbrush or can I also use other airbrush colors (as long as they are for cake decorating)? TIA! icon_biggrin.gif

I have a Kroma jet airbrush and I like it alot. I haven't had a chance to use it a whole lot. I bought the kroma jet colors with it, but I think you could use any airbrush colors. If you do a lot of cakes it would be best if you got the large bottles of colors.

I have this airbrush and I've found it doesn't take much color at all when I'm using it. I would think you would only need 1 bottle of color per color you'd like to order. I have this airbrush and I don't do as many cakes as you but I'm concerned that I'll get to the expiration date on the bottle before I run out of color.

My husband got me the airbrush as a gift and it came with 3 bottles of the primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. I bought KopyKakes paint set after that that has like 10 different colors in it and those are the ones I've been using.

A larger bottle will last a long time, however you might use red blue yellow and green more then the others, if you think you will be using your airbrush all the time a back up on those might be needed. I use chefmaster on the airbrush colors, I think all brands are pretty similar.

Hi Frog80 - can't answer your question, but would like to ask you one. How did you make your decision to purchase this model for an airbrush system. I'm looking and just can't decide which one to get....any insight you can offer per your experience will be most appreciated!

snowshoe, I bought the A-2000 which is the smaller of the two they sell. It works fine for me that doesnt do much of it. But if you plan on using it all the time, I suggest buying the bigger one. One of the things I dislike about mine is that I have to constantly refill the cup just to do a small amount of painting. If you can afford it, go for the bigger one.

weirkd - thanks for the reply. Good thing to think about your point on the cup size...

I purchased the KromaJet about 1 1/2 yrs ago...I love it! My only complaint is that for some reason the white seems to clog it. When I purchased it, I also bought the set of 12 colors. I use my airbrush a lot, and I haven't gone through that set yet. I think the best thing about airbrushing, though, is using luster dust (you mix it with vodka just like you normally would, and put that in the cup.) It doesn't seem to take much luster dust to give the cake just a nice sheen.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. This will help greatly. I'm sooooo excited about getting my first airbrush!!! icon_lol.gif I've never airbrushed before, but they make it look so easy, I hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew icon_wink.gif !!

snowshoe, my DH helped me search for a good airbrush and then I just checked with some of the nice people here at CC and went by that. Everyone that has commented on it says that they just LOVE theirs, so that works for me!!
