So we have a new member who shall remain nameless!!!! I posted two comments, on two pictures. I asked a question in one of the pictures and I just checked and the comments have been removed!!!!!! No comments can be made on their pictures now!!!!! What the heck!!! tapedshut.gificon_evil.gificon_mad.gif At least send me a pm with the answer to my question. If they are willing to post their pictures then they should be willing to accept comments and questions. Hopefully we've resolved the issue about being critical in our comments but geez to completely eliminate the ability to comment on how nice the cake looks or to find out how they did a certain technique, to me, just says that you're better than everyone and you don't care what we think!

I could go on but I'll stop here!

Maybe they accidentally selected the option to not have comments on their photos....or maybe they decided not to allow comments before they saw your comments.
If you want to know how something was done on a cake, the best way is to PM the person since not everyone realizes that a question was posted on their photo.

Wow! Ya'll posted quick! icon_razz.gif

All I wanted to know was how this person achieved the "golden" yellow they had on their cake! I make a lot of military cakes and I want to experiment more with golden yellows!

I just feel hurt! Mouse is probably right, but I was like "Wow icon_confused.gif Okay!! icon_mad.gif " when I saw the comments removed! Oh well ya know! icon_rolleyes.gif

hmmm...very interesting.

**edited to add**
I would feel flattered if someone asked me how to do something. I would be like "wow, my cake must have been good for someone to want to copy it".

About the PM, some ppl are computer illiterate, like myself, and never know they have a message.

New member, maybe dosen't know how to manuever yet, maybe hasen't figured out how to answer or is not confident enough yet. I've asked several questions, some were answered right away (thank you very much) others eventually and some not at all. NO WORRIES, sooner or later I find an answer in the forums. I think we take our selves to seriously sometimes.A little chocolate fixes everything, if not. it should!!!!!!

I don't know exactly what shade you're looking for but I've added some orange to the Wilton golden yellow to get a good shade for construction stuff.

I'm a new member and I recently learned that I had accidentally turned off the ability for folks to comment on my pictures. icon_confused.gif I was suprised to learn that this had happened and it was totally unintentional. Try not to take this too personally. I could be just a newbie mistake.

Yes, I accidentally elimated my comments too once. Couldn't figure out why suddenly none of my photos had comments. DH fixed it.

Please give me a cake over a computer any day! icon_rolleyes.gif

I tend to agree with Cake Topper, I have been on this site for a while now and still don't know how to do most things, heck the other day I posted a post asking how to contact Cake Central and boy did I feel dumb when lovely people pointed me to the top of the screen.

I never thought of adding a hint of orange. The only Wilton color I use happens to be the Golden Yellow! I'll give that a try! Thank you!! thumbs_up.gif

It could very well have been an oversight on the members part but in the reverse icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif Oh well!

I love how positive everyone is on here! I know I'll need ya'll when my DH is deployed for 7 months starting in Jan!!

I have gone periods of time where I haven't been as regular about logging on, so I have been ve-e-ery late answering a couple of private messages or anwering comments. It was totally unintentional, and I feel bad when it happens. I'm also more than a little computer illiterate. That's why one of my pictures is upside down in the gallery.

OMG! I'm SO glad I read this post! I have been wondering why NO ONE has been leaving comments on the cakes I've uploaded to CC lately!...it's because somehow, my option to have comments left was accidentaly not checked off!!!
All this time I just thought my cakes sucked, and no one liked them...lol...but hopefully that's not true...instead, I'm just an idiot!...lol...

This is probably no more than newbie error.

It took me awhile to learn how to maneuver through this site. I'm still learning.

If I want a more golden yellow, I add a touch of orange. Also, you can add the TINIEST speck of blue to mute it. Be very careful, or you will end up with puke. LOL

I recently had a similar problem. I couldn't figure out why people couldn't leave comments on my cake photos. Finally, I figured out that, when I changed my avatar, all the selections defaulted to "No". I don't know why, I didn't change them. They just defaulted. It's not just newbies! LOL!
