I have found that if you have on a sweater of any kind, gumpaste and fondant are a magnet for any lint, fuzz, hair etc. Make sure before you work with it, wipe off your workspace real well and either wear an apron or remove any "fuzzy" clothing icon_smile.gif

Hope that helps!

I did wear an apron. And a white undershirt under it.

Did you happen to wipe down the surface that you work on with a towel that might have left little pieces of lint and fuzz?

It's real easy to get lint everywhere!!! All I have to touch is my tablecloth! Wash, wash, and I wear gloves too. Lint likes to cling to my nails.

I had to add this story. I finally got to take a wilton class when I was down south and one of the ladies wore a black sweater while she was icing her cake with white frosting.

I looked over after she was done and lets just say the white icing wasn't white anymore. (gag) She kept going, no one said anything. (I hope no one ate it later) It wasn't just a little bit either, it looked like it needed to shave or something, LOL.

I have the same prob with dog hair! We have 4 Saint Bernards...yes I said 4...and I make it a point to vacume really well before I get out my gumpaste. There is always hair blowing around somewhere unless I vacume each day. Also I make sure that I dust and wipe off the table I use. Good luck Donna

I use flour sack towels in my kitchen. They're white, easy to bleach, lint-free, large in size, and cheap. Plus I can get them in my grocery store. I use them to cover my mixer when I'm mixing cake batter (that tends to splatter), to roll up jelly-roll cakes, to wipe down my work area, to cover up a bowl of icing so it doesn't harden or crust (dampen the towel) and more. When they've worn out and are no longer useful in the kitchen, they go to the garage and become work rags for my husband. Can't say enough about how awesome they are!

I have the same problem! ( I have 2 cats) The persian type cat we had before was the worst--hair just flying around at all times.

Make sure you wash all your tools after/before you use them and your work surface. Throw out the gumpaste scraps after you've rolled and cut it 2 times. I had great luck this last time. I used a marble surface and just laid saran wrap over the rolled out gumpaste right on the board. I like to use the craft foam for a surface when thinning petals and that is washable too.

My sweet hubby got me a chef jacket for Christmas and sometimes I wear that when I work with gumpaste.

Sweeping the room and wiping the table before beginning helps me too.

Little fuzzies and hairs sure can destroy the look you're going for with gumpaste, that's for sure!
