I just recently tested some cheesecake recipes and got rave reviews for them. Now I am offering cheesecakes in addition to decorated cakes. I actually had some ask me for the price of an oreo and key lime cheesecake. I gave her a price of $30 each for a 10".. She said that was out of her range. Did I price the cheesecakes too high?

I searched other cheesecakes from sellers in my area and out of state. Their cheesecakes are much more expensive. I found a site that charges $25 for a 7".

Your cheesecakes are not too high. I sold a plain 10" for $25 last winter.
She's just trying to haggle. I would not even consider making a 7" cheesecake for someone - it takes just as much electricity and time as a 10".

With inflation, I would say that $30 for a home-made cheesecake is fine.

I don't sell cheesecakes at this point because of the time involved (a lot of it what I call "inactive prep" which means it occupies space in my kitchen and creates workspace downtime....but anyway icon_lol.gif) but I do donate them for fundraisers. This summer my mom's community center had 2 of mine go on auction, the plain cheesecake sold for $90 and the turtle sold for $115. Now - a lot of that money was because of the fundraiser but I think if you're willing to let a cheesecake go for just $30, you should not accept less. Some people think it's like buying a Sara Lee frozen doorstop, but do you want to sell to someone like that??? icon_surprised.gif No sense of quality!!!

Sometimes at Christmas, I will make cheesecakes for a little extra $. My most popular is a Turtle cheesecake which is 9 inches and I sell for $30. So, no, I don't think you are pricing too high at all!!!
