We're planning a trip through Mass/Vermont in a few weeks. Anybody know of any cake decorating shops?

I LOVE!!!!! Party Cake - though the old guy is a little creepy. Don't worry though - he stays behind the counter and loves to chat! It is on Bay Street in Taunton.

There is also Lorraine's in Hanover. They have a website, just search Lorraine's Hanover Mass and it should show up.

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks so much guys! I wonder if I'm the only person on earth that visits cake shops on vacation... icon_rolleyes.gif If we make it to Taunton, I'll make sure DH goes in with me to protect me from creepy old guy! LOL

Hey beachcakes! I'm from Western Mass - don't know if you're going through here or not, but there is a place called Party World in West Springfield ..... looks like nothing from the outside, but they've got a lot of stuff. I've found cake pans there that aren't active anymore. There is also a Party World in Northampton (not affiliated with each other), they don't have as many cake supplies as the one in West Springfield, but they also have alot of older cake pans that aren't in any of the commercial stores anymore.

And there is always the old stand-bys - Michaels and AC Moore.

Hope that helps - you must be going leaf-peeping, right? Enjoy!!

chelleb1974 : have you been to both Party Cakes and Lorraines? I'm curious which one you like better if you've been to both.
I've only been to Lorraines but would love to try out Party Cakes if its worth it.

thanks icon_smile.gif

If you are going to be in central mass I know of Evies in Shrewsbury (outside of Worcester). I have heard that they are great and that they are OK, I haven't made it there yet though. LOL. Have fun. icon_smile.gif

Thanks so much guys! It's actually our 14th anniversary and DH wanted to go away. (We've only been away once w/o DS who's 9, and that was to go to a weekend hardware convention - romantic, eh?) So, hey - his idea? icon_eek.gif I'm all over it! And the leaf-viewing would be a plus! thumbs_up.gif

Cakerator,

I have been to both Lorraines and Party Cake. I like Lorraines because they sell Americolors and I can't find them anywhere else around here. I also like Lorraines because she sells dragees. Though I don't put them on cakes I am selling, I use them on my cakes - and have a best friend who grew up with them like I did (when you could buy them in the grocery store)!!!

I like Party cake for hard to find items, or if Michaels or AC Moore doesn't have what I need quickly. He does sell Satin Ice fondant, and as I said earlier on this thread (I think) it is the only edible item that he sells that I would buy. Some of the stuff that he has I think is older than me (32). He has pretty good prices on cake boxes and boards. I love going and looking through the pans he has. He has a ton that are retired by Wilton. He charges the Wilton Yearbook price for all his Wilton products, but does discount them 10%.

Depending on where you live and how far Taunton is it would definitely be worth going - I think. But then again, I love little cake supply stores and love looking around!!! He doesn't have the most convenient hours. He is open until either 6 or 6:30 during the week and until 2 or 3 on the weekends.
Anything else you want to know about Partycake feel free to PM me.

~Chelle
