I've searched and searched to no avail, so i apologize if this is a commonly asked question. I've seen mention of painting onto a cake using food coloring. How is this done? Can it be done on BC & fondant? Do you need to do an outline with RI? I know I can tint my icing/fondant, but sometimes you just wanna add a little detail with color here or there. Thanks!

You can paint on fondant by thinning the food color gels w/ a little vodka or lemon extract. I don't believe it works on BC, but i've never tried it. There are a few in my photos that were painted on - the wood floors, the "woody" in the orange surf cake...

There is a member here on CC who paints on BC with colored BC. It ends up looking like an oil painting when she's done. Absolutely amazing work.....but I can't remember who it is.....sorry icon_sad.gif

I actually love using airbrush colors to paint....they are already at a nice consistency and they work great using a brush.
