corn syrup in the USA is sold under the name of Karo Syrup, something along the lines of GOLDEN SYRUP.
Glucose is just another version without as much water as the Karo

We used to have trouble getting Corn Syrup in Australia, and I often used glucose for the light corn syrup with no problems. It is now much easier to get and I have not noticed any difference in the end product, except that corn syrup is cheaper!

The link that Doug gave to the cooks thesaurus has gone in my bookmarks, maybe I can stop asking daft questions now!! Also glad ozcookie has used glucose as an alternative at least I know it will work.
Thanks again,
Lynnne
