Has anyone taken the Wilton classes out of order? I am in class I right now but next month they are not offering class II. I can take class III next month. My instructor said they do not have to be taken in order but it worries me. Opinions please!

Angela

p.s. I love this site. I have beed addicted to it since I found it. I have learned so much from here. Thanks!

Welcome!

I'm a Wilton Instructor and I think you would be fine taking Course III before Course II. There's really nothing that pressing you should know in CII before CIII. Go for it! Then take CII when it's being offered again! Have fun!

I took my classes out of order. I took class I, class IV, class II, class III. I didn't have any problems. The only thing was that there was a little redundancy with taking 4 and then 2. You shouldn't have any problems! Good Luck!

I took mine in order but like every one said it shouldn't really matter.
Just a quick tip...go home and make about a 1000 little royal icing flowers after class. They can be stored in plastic containers and make cute little fillers on cakes.

I used my little purple and white violets on everything for about 8 months before I ran out of them. icon_biggrin.gif

enjoy your classes

I took 4 first then 2 and plan on taking 3 as soon as my Michaels has a evening class. I do wish I had taken 1 prior to 2 though. I thought my class from years and years agp would be ok. NOT.

No, there is not a course 4. While there is a new Wilton course it is called Fondant and Intro to Gumpaste. It is not Course 4 as it is meant to be taken any time after Course 1 and does not fall into any order with the other courses.

People tend to call it Course 4 because it is the 4th of Wilton's 4 week courses, but that is misleading and makes it sound like it has to come after Course 3. There are actually some insturctors that offer it before Course 3. But as I said it can be taken after Course 1 before the other courses.

Whew, thank you for clarifying. I knew about the gum paste course but wasn't sure if that was the same. I haven't used gum paste yet, only fondant. Everytime I make a cake they always want to eat the decorations. icon_rolleyes.gif
