I have an old candy recipe book that should be cheap to get or I can type out a recipe you may have in mind out for you. It's called "Ideals Candy Cookbook" by Mildred Brand

I just got this book "All About Candy Making" from Country Kitchen and it's the BEST book on candy I've seen. I'm a novice and haven't had time to try any of the recipies, but it's got everything, from tempering chocolate to making hard candies and candy apples!

They suggest using fondant to make the centers, it has three different recipes and lots of ideas of what to mix in for flavors.
