I have a 4 tier cake.
Top layer is 6", then 8-12-16

Top layer gets Gerber Daisies.

Should the Monogram on the side of the cake go on the 6" or the 8"???

Doing it now....help!

If you can arrange the daisies around the monogram for added effect, I vote 6", if not, then 8" Good luck!!! I'll look forward to seeing a picture when done!!!

Never having done a tiered cake yet...I am probably not the best to weigh in...but I would probably guess the 8 inch cake as well....make sure you post pics of the cake when its done...I love Gerber Daisy's!

Thanks! I was thinking the 8" myself also. They are going to have a very small topper as well and I think it may be too much on the 6.

My first monogram also! yikes!
I'm just putting it on in buttercream. Pray for me!

I'll post the pics either tonight or tomorrow!
Here goes!

Well, all finished! Here it is. It isn't a perfect monogram...but it is ok for the first one. The rest of the cake makes up for it. icon_lol.gif

That is so pretty, how did you end up making the monogram out of bc? Your edges are so crisp too, mine always look mounded or rounded off, what is your technique? Good Job!

Thank you everyone!

I really don't have a big secret on my edges....I just use that big spreader tip that is about 2" wide and pipe it on. Then smooth the sides and when it creates the excess around the top, I use a hot small spreader and pull the frosting in from the outside into the middle. This makes the edges nice and sharp. Then I smooth out the top.

I use the paper towel trick to get rid of any marks so that it's very smooth.

Thanks again! icon_smile.gif
