Call her and tell her you have an appointment set for today and you need her to get it already. I do that all the time. I've finally started telling people what time to pick the cake up (usually like at 9 am) that way they don't take their sweet time and spend my time doing their run arounds before they get to the cake.

How frustrating! I say go run your errands and leave a note on the door that you'll be back in __ minutes. She's made you wait 3 hours already!!

yep I'd leave, if she has no problem making you wait for 3 hours then she should be ok with waiting for a few hours her self.
she shouldn't dish it if she can't take it.

My son thinks we need a rule that gives them only 15 minutes leeway on the time they are to pick up their cake. After that he calls his buddies and cracks open a gallon of milk!

I hope you've been paid in advance. If so, I'd go do whatever needs to be done. Shame on her inconsideration!

Tell us if she every shows up!
I am very punctual, and have no tolerance for late people.

I take it she hasn't paid for this cake yet. I had one do that to me...that's when I learned to have to have prepayment...then if they back out at least I still have the money for doing the cake.

FINALLY, she finally came for the cake at 3 Hours and 45 minutes, she sent her mom, she had not paid for the cake yet my mistake because i trusted her, apperently she booked the wrong date for the park ramada and she set eveything up to have to take it off, it rained all of which delayed her, but like i told her mom next time please call me and let me know so i can do other things.

icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif My 14 yr old daughter and her friend say the same thing when I have a sampling appt. They walk in, see the sample cakes, and start in with "are they coming? did they cancel?"

I agree with the above suggestions: Leave. Do your errands. She said she would be there by X-time. Give her X-time plus 30 minutes, let leave with a note on the door "SOrry you missed me. I waited 30 minutes past your pick up time for you but had to leave due to other committments. Will be back at X-o'clock. See you then." And then put a smiley face on it just to Tick! Her! Off! icon_twisted.gif

When I take an order, I always ask for the time they need the order, at that time I let them know that I have deliveries for such and such time, and that I work on a planned time schedule. I always get several numbers to call just in case. Next time, I would give them no more then 30 minutes, then leave and do your errands, if they come by to pick up and you are not there, a note letting them know you had to handle other business and you will call them when you return.

Don't let your customers dictate your time. If you do this, they'll be three hours late every time. get paid ahead of time, too.

I always say something like, "You can pick up the cake between 10 and 11 am. At 11:15 I am leaving and won't be back until 10 pm."

Believe me, if that cake is already paid for they will be there at 10 am to pick it up.

Most times I say we will talk that morning or the day before the cake is due, that way I know my schedule and the customer knows hers. It always works out, but this is with friends and friends of friends. I usually don't get the money up front, but they always come at the agreed time.

You could have delivered it several times over in the amount of time you waited. That's a pain! She was inconsiderate.

In this world of 24/7 retail, some people think EVERYONE is open 24/7.
