I made my first batch of mmf and I think for the most part it did good. One problem I think I am having is when I am done with making the mmf it is pretty easy to tear apart. One other thing I had a good bit of sugar left in the bowl when I was finished with making my mmf. Is this normal our am I adding to much sugar. Any help with these two problems and I believe I will have a much liking in making mmf. Thanks for all help. thumbs_up.gif

It sounds like there's too much powdered sugar or not enough water because it's dry.

I don't measure when I make mine. I just keep adding until it's the right consistency and then stop. I live in a high humidity area and I have all kinds of issues with my iciings.

You may try adding 1 TBSP of water and then work it in. And if it's still a bit dry, try a bit of crisco like maybe 1/2 tbsp. and keep working it.

Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Thank you for the help I am the same way I don' t measure mine either. I will try adding more water and see if I can get it right. How should it do when you pull it. should it just stretch. Is that the way you know its ready.

I add crisco to moisten it up. And yes, it should have good elasticity when your done. I dont use all the ps either.

Using that much crisco does not alter the taste of MMF? It just seems like it would taste bad afterwards?!!!

I am still working toward getting my mmf right. These questions may sound silly but I am so trying to get this right. When the mmf is done right will it have the same strength and pull as fondant bought in a pack. I have made some and I did have a lot of sugar left over in the bowl. When I pull some off to color it, it rips apart very easy. Is this to much sugar in it. Is there anyway to get this batch right our should I start over. When mmf is made right will all the sugar put in the bowl mix in the marshmellows. Any help is great. Thanks to all that give so much help. thumbs_up.gif

I've had sugar left in the bowl when I have made it and didn't worry about it. I have noticed it dosen't have quite the elastic that box fondant has but the taste far out weighed this. I wouldn't add too much crisco. I don't like it to have that "wet" look. BUT, I am new to MMF so I'm still learning....... hope this helps icon_smile.gif
