I am thinking about using Antonia's Royal Icing to make leaves . . . I was going to use her fill-in method on wax paper, then transfer the leaves to the iced cake once they are dried. Has anyone tried this???

Use ordinary royal icing for this. The leaves will need to dry throughly before removing them from the paper and transferring to the cake. Antonias recipe while looking and tasting great just doesn't set quite hard enough for this technique. If you want a nice shine dry the leaves under a reading lamp for at least 10 minutes before allowing to dry out overnight
