icon_sad.gif Hello all, I know i've seen it somewhere here on CC but as usual, can't find it when I need it!!!!
I'm making cookies later & I think I remember seeing here to leave out the baking soda?? This way they won't spread as much?? Is this true??
Thank you all so much in advance, I love this site and you are all so great here!!

Do you mean baking powder? The recipe I use for cookies doesn't contain baking soda (NFSC).

The only time I had a problem with spreading was when I was at high altitudes (7500 feet, above Denver!) and that was almost a disaster! LOL!

Opps, is it baking powder??? I hope this is not a sign of how my cookies will turn out, lol.
So i guess it is should I leave out the baking ( soda or powder)!?

Thank you Michelle for pointing that out to my, my brain is fried icon_confused.gif

LOL, no problem! No, I don't think you should leave it out. If the recipe calls for it, I would use it....but maybe someone else knows a reason you should.

My recipe doesn't have baking soda. It does have baking powder and it never spreads. You were correct.

Melissa's cookie recipe is exactly like the NFSC, but without the baking powder and no spreading.
She uses double the vanilla, and they taste like cookie dough when they are baked .
That is probably the recipe you saw.
