Thank you to everyone who helped me with the cake recipes!! I finally decided on a "Betty Crocker butter recipe box cake mix" (I've never made one before) and adding a vanilla pudding mix.

Does anyone do/add anything special to the cake mix?

Also, I'm making a lot of roses, and I'm not the best at making them, any advice???? Usually my icing "breaks" at the tips.

Thank you so much for all your help!!!! I'm really excited about making this cake!

When I add pudding I always add an extra egg and an extra 1/4 cup of water. I also usually add almond extract.

I use the Duncan hines butter cake box mix all the time. It's my BIL's favorite. I don't usually add all of the butter though. I don't have one on hand right now (*GASP*) but I think it calls for 2 sticks of butter...I only put in half of one. Then I add 1 pkg of vanilla pudding, 1/3 cup oil, 1 1/4 cup of water, 4 eggs, and 1 tsp almond extract. It rises really well and is very moist. For a quick easy filling I use Jello pudding snack pack chocolate pudding. It may be cheating, but it tastes great! icon_lol.gif

Yes, just add half of one. I couldn't remember what it actually called for.

As far as your roses go, your icing is too stiff.

can you tell me the reason you add extra water and egg when you use pudding mix? in general if i want a fluffy and moist cake should i always add pudding in the mix? in every recipe?

Some pillsburry cake box mixes already have one cup of pudding in the mix. Are they just as effective?
