Okay so call me crazy - I need to make a mold to make a full size human hand out of fondant/gumpaste -- so I go to the craft store and look at the kid hand molding kits -- these will only get me one side of the hand - I guess I could freehand the other side...
I researched on the web and found other substances to use but I think they are a bit high tech...
Someone here mentioned using gumpaste to make molds...so that had me thinking..could I make a gumpaste mold of my own hand - let dry then push fondant/gumpaste into it for the 3D hand...
How long would I have to have the gumpaste on my hand to get a good mold do you think? I realize I would have to do the front half and then the back half....or maybe put the soft gumpaste in a square container and stick my hand front or back into it for the detail -- do you think the detail would show up? Is this is a possibility?
You opened a can of worms with this post. I would make two molds. One of each side of your hand let it dry. There are many products out there to do that. If you want it for food products there is a site that sells it. http://www.culinart.net/silicone.html Then you would mold one side and un mold to dry the mold the other side and place the dried hand half ontop with gum glue and let them dry together. I think I am making sense her I hope. Others maybe will come on and say it differently. I hope. ![]()
thank you thank you thank you
this stuff is amazing - have ordered and am awaiting delivery - my mind starts to spin about all the cool things I can create with it besides the hand I need to do...
