Anyone know of other brands of Meringue Powder besides Wilton and other brands of candy melts besides Wilton or CK?

What I am looking for is some that are made in a nut-free environment (if such things exist). If you know of a brand, I can do the investigating.

Thanks.

candy melts i can't help with. meringue powder, i say throw it out all together, you don't really need it. i never use it, if i make RI (which is rare) i use pasteurized egg whites in a carton from kroger. i never put it in my BC and i've never had any other the supposed problems of leaving it out, (bleeding, not crusting.) HTH!

Thanks! We have Kroger! I can get that stuff. But do I then have to refrigerate the frosting? I don't have to when I use shortening and water rather than butter and milk. And what is the shelf life?

you're referring to buttercream? i never put meringue powder in my BC, i don't replace it i just leave it out. so i make 1 cup shortening, 1 cup butter, 2 lbs PS and flavoring and 6-7 tbsp water. no egg at all. and you don't have to put it in the fridge if you use butter in BC. the sugar content acts as a preservative. it will be good on the counter for several days (4-5). if you want to keep it longer then put it in the fridge just to prevent molding. i use the egg white only when i make royal icing (as i said, not often). and i do keep it in the fridge. good luck!
