So I get this call from a wife of a guy who goes to our church. She says she heard through the grapevine that I make a mean cake. (so far so good...I'm liking this conversation thumbs_up.gif )

The the bomb drops.

A Transformer cake.

Carved sheet cake in the shape of Bumble-bee (?)

By Sunday the 29th.

I very nicely responded that in no way in less then 48 hrs could I pull that off. I would be more then happy to create a nice sheet cake with a Transformer or similar like design for her, but 3D carved, I could not do. She responded "Well I'll have to run over to Albertsons then I guess and pick up one of their cakes. They'll do it". I told her I hope that they will and said to have a nice day.

Was I out of line? I dont think anyone would want to take on that kind of task on Friday afternoon at 1 pm for a cake she wants to pick up on Sunday at noon.

Whadd'ya think?

You were not out of line. I have never seen a 3D cake at Albertsons, and my sister is manager of one.

I don't think you were out of line, a 3d cake takes lots of time to plan and do and 48 hours notice isn't enough.

Albertson's does 3D cakes?!?!?

I don't think you were out of line. She should have planned ahead better or taken one of your suggestions to make it work.

BTW--In the movie, Bumblebee is a bright yellow camaro that transforms into a robot--one of the good guys. icon_smile.gif

Mabye she didn't really mean 3-d. Maybe she meant just the outline, like a charachter pan...and then draw in the rest? Cause there is no way Albertson's does real 3d....??? is there???

Wow, that lady was out of her mind! I would have told her the same thing you did, go to Albertson's and have a nice day...

That's too much.
I swear people think we keep these lavish cakes in a freezer in our basement!!!
I rarely do ANY cake with less than 48 hours notice.

Yeah, I forgot to add that, I should have thought of it since my boys have HUGE posters of him on their walls. icon_rolleyes.gif They think he's SO cool.
