I'm working on a gumpaste lighthouse. The 1st one I made out of white gumpaste and painted it black. The black paint wouldn't stick where there were light smears of Crisco. I repainted and repainted with no luck. I tried dusting it with cornstarch and repainting...no luck. Then I colored my gumpaste black and made the lighthouse AGAIN. The black is a very dull black (seems like it faded) and I'd like to paint it black, but again there are smears of Crisco on it from when I was molding it. Any suggestions?

Ha! I figured it out! thumbs_up.gif
I ended up using a makeup sponge and gave it a color wash. It turned out better than I expected! It gives it an old, worn look....great for my lighthouse roof!
