I forgot to save some batter to bake a small smash cake icon_cry.gif , but I had a lot of scraps leftover (yummy and soft and fresh icon_smile.gif ) so I formed them into the banana shape I needed (Curious George cake). Do you think this is tacky icon_surprised.gif ? Do you think they'll notice icon_eek.gif ? I mean he'll have it all smashed up anyway icon_rolleyes.gif . Or do you think this is an ingenious way of using scraps??? icon_cool.gif
I need your honest thoughts on this most important matter icon_biggrin.gif PLEASE!

I think this is a great idea. You are going to put frosting on it right? It'll be sort of like a cake ball inside, and everyone loves those.

This is not tacky, as long as (as you already mentioned) they are fresh and taste good. I mean, you aren't using something that the DOG got into so you were going to throw away!! It's more like a cake ball as mentioned. Nothing wrong with that! Good job being smart!!

Where the scraps from the main cake??
I don't think it is tacky, who would know anyway after it is frosted..
I'm sure the birthday boy/girl will have no complaints!

I actually think is a very good idea! Hey as long as it looks like a banana and no one won't notice... Why not? It is going to work just fine icon_smile.gif

When people "sculpt" cakes-they use the outside pieces for other parts-why not use them for the banana-I say go for it!!

Gee thanks folks...what a huge relief reading your responses!!!
Yes, they were scraps from the main cake and I had them wrapped so they were still nice and moist not dry or hardened, so they mushed together very well icon_rolleyes.gif Good thing hubby wasn't home to gobble them up icon_biggrin.gif !!
