Hi. I wanted to make my first icing plaque tonight but screwed up the gumpaste recipe. icon_surprised.gif

I don't have time to run out and buy more, so can I just use fondant alone for the plaque, and if so, how long will it need to dry before putting on top of the cake. Thanks for your help!

I have done lots of plaques using just fondant (never used gumpaste!). I either transfer them immediately or let them dry for at least 24/48 hours after painting before transfering to the cake. It depends how organised I've been timewise icon_razz.gif ! I haven't had problems either way. Hope that helps thumbs_up.gif

if you have some gum tex or gum trag you can add this to the fondant and it will make it harden quicker.

I was about to say that.. I've heard the Fixodent works great.. And I've heard the mint smell isnt that bad on your plaques either..good luck

I need the plaque for a cake I'm delivering on Saturday. Should it be dry enough by then, especially if I use the gum tex? Thanks for all of your responses.

I've used the Fixodent Powder and it worked pretty well.
