I need to wrap my cake board with a ribbon. The problem is that I wrapped the board first in contact paper and there are bumps on the side that show through the ribbon.

How do you get a very smooth side to a wide board? I cut slits in the contact paper but I still get puckers.

Any ideas??

What is your board made of? If possible you could try cutting the bumped contact paper off with an exacto knife, giving your board a smooth side and then apply your ribbon. I can't think of any other way to correct this so I hope this helps.

I used about 6 cardboard circles. I might try wrapping the outside edge in masking tape or something...but then I'll have to figure out how to make the ribbon stay on the side as well. Never thought it'd be this difficult!

How about a thin layer of a fondant ribbon first, then put the ribbon on that. Just a thought; I've never tried it.
