Hi I am currently learning how to use Gumpaste and I was wondering how you attach the flowers to a cake. I notice that wne water or any liquid hits them they melt. We make the flowers on wires and I know that one way is to get glass tubes to insert into the cake so that the wires can go in there. What is you make the flowers without the wires, how do you attach them to the cake. Thanks Jen

With wires - be sure to wrap the wires with floral tape so they don'r frey.

Without wires the best thing is royal icing if your using fondant as your icing. If it's buttercream, the flowers will go on, use a little extra buttercream to attach. They wont melt if they are dry first.

Royal icing or Butter cream should work with attaching to the cake. I read once that some used straws to put the metal wires into the cake. That is what I plan on using the next time I have wired flowers.
