Today is the first time Ive made this and I was just wondering your opinions on it. It did crust over but when I went to smooth it it just look all cracked and would not smooth out. Thank goodness it is just for my nephews birthday with only family going to be seeing it. It also seemed like a very thin consistancy, what did I do wrong?

I made it once and I was not too thrilled with the results! It did crust but it was just too thin and goopy for me. I think it must take a little extra practice to get it right. I ended up having to scrape it all off my cake and make a batch of my good ol' buttercream....

I usually put more pwd sugar in the recipe to thicken it up to smooth on the cake. And before it sets I use (my personal preference) a water mister and spray it lightly (the cake) to smooth out the icing before it crusts. If it still cracks then I moved it and the board was not thick enough to handle the cake. HTH
