Cookies/storing And Baking Ahead Of Time
Decorating By Lolafalano Updated 21 Sep 2006 , 10:30pm by Lolafalano
Hi All! Love the site and am already addicted. I wanted to start experimenting with cookie decorating and am curious as to what are my options for baking ahead of time and storing. Will an air-tight container alone work and if so- what kind of air-tight? Tupperware? Gladware? Can baked cookies be frozen before decorated? Also- my cookie sheets are pretty banged up due to my husband not understanding the benefits of parchment paper! What brand do you like best and can I bake sugar cookies on top of parchment paper and not have to buy new pans? I live in a small apartment so my kitchen is tiny and storage is minimal. When creating an outline on top of a cookie with royal icing you use a thicker consistency and then fill with a diluted right?Any advice you can give me will be so appreciated! Thanks so much and happy decorating!
Hi Lola... welcome to CC. YOu can bake your cookies ahead of time and freeze them in an airtight container. What I have done is wrapped the container in plastic wrap afterwards (mostly to ensure the kids don't get into them). And,yes, bake them on parchment paper. I live in an apartment as well and know your issues with storage!

this is the best website. Thank you Debbi. I'll probably wrap them individually in plastic wrap too. Just to be safe. Can't wait to someday have a big kitchen with counter space!
