Help Another Fondant Question....

i am doing a cake, and i am using fondant for the first time. i putting fondant stripes and poka-dots on it. my question is do i need to let them dry before putting them on the cake ?? any help would be appreciated. thanks !!! 
when i make MMF, it doesn't really ever "dry", it hardens, a bit. As to whether to let it harden before decorating with it, depends. When I am in a hurry, i have just placed undried fondant accents on cake, it wasn't a problem. but if i have time to allow them to 'dry" I will do that and then place them on my cake.
