Ok...
1. Does anyone use any preservative as a precaution intheir cakes? Esp. Scratch Bakers.
2. would anyone be willing to explainthe different techniques of doing scroll work on a cake. Are most using impression type pieces of equ.? Or is there another method.

I can't say anything abour preservatives because I use box mixes but wanted to say I do my scroll work free hand. Get out your pencil and start doodling and I think you will surprise yourself at what you can do freehanded. Good luck!

I don't know about preservatives. But I like to do scroll work and I have found you just have to do it. Don't think about it, just do it. If you think about it you hesitate. I get a picture in my head of what I want and do some practice on a baking sheet. Then I start on the cake. I use a press sometimes, but I am finding the more I do it the easier it gets.

Good luck!

(I know what you mean when nobody answers.)
