So, a friend wants me to make her a teardrop, 3d cake. has anyone ever heard of a cake like this....i mean, i get the jist of it, but its kinda strange, right? its for a kids bday. oh, and i have to cover it in fondant. Any ideas/suggestions? I need all the help i can get!!

This is a different request. How old is the kid? Did the friend request anything else of this cake? Color, numbers, messages? I'd be calling the friend and ask .. What would you like on this tear drop? Good luck!

uh... that's pretty weird... esp. for a kid, lol!

How big does the cake have to be? What I would do is use the wilton ball pan, and... well, I'm not sure what I would do for the top point part.. probably just carved scraps of some sort.

As for covering it with fondant, I know I would have to have a seam on the the back for sure. Other than that I don't have many ideas.

Make SURE you charge enough for this cake! Oh, and if the price is too high, she might "change her mind" if you get my drift... lol

this kid is 3! but she wants something unique and a teardrop is definatly that! Blue fondant w/ choco ganache and raspberry filling is the order. 40 or so people....i was thinking of doing round cakes, like 9 or 12 inch and stacking, then carving. I am charging 80--all of the work that this is going to be i think that was a good price.
