I have a 2 quick questions- the topsy-turvy pan by Wilton seems to be a flat cake to simulate those I see here that appear to be stacked or "3-D". Is that correct?

And is "filling" just the frosting between the layers? Or something you inject in the middle? or both? I just noticed a wedding cake with strawberry "filling" in the description and was confused.

Thanks.

W E L C O M E ! ! ! !

re: pan...yes...a flat imitation

re: filling -- whatever you put between two layers of cake.

could be BC (buttercream) or
could be ganache or
could some kind of thick fruit filling/puree (what you read about) or
could be something like a layer of Nuttella or
slices of fresh fruit or
could be a cooked filling like lemon curd or bavarian creme or
could even be peanut butter straight form the jar!

limited only by: your imagination, what the tastebuds will tolerate, what will stay inside the cake and not ooze everywhere and what won't spoil given the storage conditions for the cake (some fillings have to be refrigerated

HTH.
