I just discovered that wilton has premade bows!! Has anyone seen these or tried them? I have a cake in 2 weeks that needs a bow and I really thought about this one. It says that it can be dyed any color. It would save a lot of time and effort, but isn't too cheap! I have already priced the cake, but man what a timesaver. BTW---I have never made one of the elaborate bows like this, I just know how much time and work it will be.
Any opinions or suggestions?

I think it is @ $15 and if you have a Michael's, you can use the 50% coupon on it. This is not in the cake decorator section - it's in the wedding supply area where they sell the tulle, etc...

It was $16 something at Walmart here. I don't have a Michaels closer than an hour away. Do they have the 50% coupon often. I see it mentioned on here a lot.
Have you used the bow yourself?

I've seen those too and will definitely invest in one. I'm not that skilled at fondant or gumpaste just yet so if I ever get a request for the bow I will definitely by one of those. If the client wants to keep it, then next time incorporate the price of the bow in your cake price.

I used it one on a wedding. I thought I would (big sigh!) TRY to work with fondant just for a bow. After much frustration, I decided to tell the bride I sat on it and went to Walmart to get a silk bow to put on the cake. Lo and behold I discovered the Wilton Bow! I didnt' try to change the color or anything .... I just plopped it on the cake since it was last minute! There a pic on my website (the page entitled "More Wedding Cakes" .... it's the 1st pic.

I think the bows that I've seen made by CC'ers look much better, but since I seem to have zero talent in making a fondant bow, icon_confused.gif it works for me! thumbs_up.gif

I've used the Wilton bow once, and didn't dye it. I did "glue" pearls to it, though, and it looked pretty. Saved A LOT of time, which in my mind, was worth the 16 dollars I paid for it.

You can order premade gumpaste bow pieces from www.sugarcraft.com. It might be cheaper than the $15.00. They also have premade butterflies, and shells.

Thanks indydebi I think it may just work for me. It is for a baby shower cake and the cake is 2 tiers--polkadot 6" and striped 10" . the white will be just fine, and I can probably get it back.
I have a baseball tournament with one of my kids and 2 big cakes. It just may be the only way to go. icon_wink.gif

I looked at the bows and the rose cascade at walmart the other night. Are they made of paper?

It is what it looked like to me.
I just wonder if a customer would really care because they look at the overall design of the cake and it would give them what they want.
