I know a lot of you on here make your own frostings but I had a question for those of you who may buy frosting or have compared. I bought the wilton decorator frosting today I haven't used it yet, but I was wondering what the difference is between this frosting and say any ol' frosting I could buy at the grocery store??

I make my own frosting, but so I understand the wilton frosting is ready to decorate with. Where as the storebought (duncan hines or betty crocker etc.) is just too soft. You can however add powdered sugar to the other and stiffen it up. It makes a very sweet icing. It would get really expensive to buy frosting if you make a lot of cakes.
Hope this helps!

I like my own the best but if I did have to store buy some, it would definately be Wilton. I used to buy Wilton all the time when I started out cuz I liked it so much. Tastes great, crusts, I would add a little water and mix and was good to go!
