I am in a major drama about this one. I was asked last night to make a cake for next Friday. NO biggie!!!
WEll it is for a girl who is having a baby. They dont know if it is a boy or a girl, but the room is decorated in a zebra theme. So they would like the cake to match. Well, I was going to make a three dimensional zebra, laying down, but with the support that you would need, probably not a good idea since I will not be there to cut the cake and serve it.
ANy ideas would be greatly appreciated. (it is only for about 12 people)

have you thought about an fbct, or a zebra figure modeled out of fondant or gumpaste??
Okay, take a DEEP breath... now let it out slowly... better? 
A zebra is basically a small horse with stripes. So think of it that way. The first visual I got when I heard "zebra cake" was not necessarily 3-d but a regular cake (8-10" round?) of some sort with zebra fondant stripes coming up from the base, wider at the bottom, narrowing towards the top. Then you can easily write "welcome baby so-and-so" on the top and maybe incorporate small fondant animals, a couple of little palm trees, etc... to match the baby's room and bedding. Then you can keep it simple, your time won't be insane and because of the black and white (pink border trim would be cute for the little princess-to-be) contrast, it'll be a sharp looking cake graphically and visually.
