I want to use mini-cupcakes for the roses on my daughter's first birthday cake. (I want to form the roses around the mini-cupcakes.) Do I need to use the large petal tip for this, or will the smaller one work? I'm going to have Tinkerbell sitting among the roses. Thanks!

Are you saying that you are going to place the roses on the cup cakes? If so why not use the cup cake as the rose nail and make the roses right on the cup cakes. It would take less time. And if a mini cupcake is whay you are using the the 104 tip is big enough. And if the regular cupcakes I would use the 124 tip to do those. HTH

Thanks. That's what I want to do... form the rose around the cupcake using the cupcake as the base. For some reason 104 looked a little small to me. I'll have to try it out this weekend. Many thanks!

Am I reading you correctly in that you want to use the mini cupcake as the base of the rose (instead of making an icing base or using a hershey's kiss for the base)? Or are you going to make the roses on top of the mini cupcakes, sort of like they're just iced with a rose?
I think you're wanting to do the former rather than the latter. I don't have any suggestions as I've never tried it. I would try it with both tips and see which one provides the result you're looking for. Sounds like a neat idea!

Please show us a picture of the rose and the cake when you are done.

It sounds very interesting!

I'm thinking that you may still need to use a bigger tip. the 104 just doesnt seem big enough even for a mini muffin. picture how small a hersheys kiss is compared to the mini muffin. definately try it and let us know. i cant wait to try those myself.

these were so much fun, i have a pic in my photos of ones i did with a regular size cupcake and #124 rose tip. these would be so cute for like bridal showers and such if the bride wanted cupcakes.
