Frosting Sticking To Knife Not Cake

what is wrong when my frosting made with crisco and xxx sugar etc. is sticking to every thing but the cake?? please help

sounds like it's too thick. thin it down with some milk. it also helps if the cake if slightly cold (not quite frozen).

I agree sounds to thick although I would thin with water...I dont like to use milk in my frosting just a personal preference..

Agree it sounds too thick; also make sure you wipe off your spatula regularly else it will stick to the icing on the spatula.

Are you using the new 0 trans fat Crisco? It's been causing lots of people problems lately!

(You can also use corn syrup to thin icing.)

If you're using the new Crisco, someone posted that milk works better than water. I've always used milk which may be why I never had any problems with it.

try using a hot spatula, not wet, just hot.
