What Do I Write On The Cake?

We have a lady in our office leaving for another job. We are having a surprise pot luck lunch for her tomorrow and I'm making cake. I was going to use the wilton butterfly pan. I'm not sure what to write on the cake - "Good Luck!" ? Or, since its a shape, should I just leave it as is?
I don't know why I'm stressing over this! ![]()
You're stressing over it because we stress over everything we do! ![]()
I would write something on the cake: Best Wishes; Good Luck; We'll Miss You! - anything along those lines. You could even work it into the design of the butterfly. IMO it is always best to express a sentiment when one if felt and I think she would appreciate it.
IMHO, I have never understood two things about cakes....
1) Birthday candles.....why are they so important now, I am sure at one time the cake was the best part.........
and
2) Writing on a cake, why? Isn't the scumptious frosting and delicious cake enough?
I also believe the design is the most important part.....if you haven't incorporated the writing into the pattern, then don't add it as an afterthought. I think many people don't realize this as a part of getting good in design thinking the design all the way through. Some cakes I see on CC are just awful people add extra flowers, doohickies and thingamigjigs and they don't know when to stop! Then the board is an after thought and doesn't match the design and then they take a picture of it in front of a huge mess and ask us for comments......
My vote, just the butterfly, I bet it is just lovely by itself and let Hallmark do the other part!
Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions! Time to bake!
