Does anyone add flavoring (besides vanilla or almond) to their marshmallow fondant or store bought fondant? What about buttercream? I was thinking of adding some of the candy flavorings but didn't know if it would work. Would it taste funny??

I use flavorings all the time. I replace 1 tsp. of vanilla with the flavor of my choic. Some of my favorites are coconut, strawberry, and raspberry, oh and ny new favorite vanilla butter nut!

Yes, it will work....I've added extracts or candy flavoring to buttercream, MMF, commercial fondant, and rolled buttercream. Use whatever flavoring will complement your cake flavor (orange, rum and amaretto are my favorites.)

I've never used rolled buttercream, but I have flavored my mmf with bananna flavoring and it was really good. I've also used strawberry kool aid to flavor crusting buttercream icing and it gave it quite an unexpected "kick". It also helps make it really red without using soooo much coloring.
