I just received a kitchen aid countertop mixer. (old - no manual) I got three attatchments with it. I wanted to know what each attatchment is supposed to be used for. I have the whip. I am guessing that is for fluidy mixtures I have the beater- for making pancake and cake type mixtures and the c hook can that be used to mix fondant?

Oh I LOVE my dough hook - I use it to knead my easy peasy cinnamon bread.

Enjoy getting to know your machine!

definietley use the dough hook for fondant. WOrks great and I really don;t have to knead the fondant by hand--woohooo. The whisk is great for royal icing and whipped cream(you can literally walk away from it and it gets done and beautiful).

You will LOVE your KA. I think my KA got me doing more stuff since it is soo good. My hand mixer could not handle too much and it was not cheap--the beaters would come out trying to mix small dough even with the "dough attachment"!

Mashed potatoes(not a "baking" dish) are WONDERFUL!!!

Have fun!
