I'm on a quest for the ultimate chocolate cake or mud cake recipe. Lately I have tried many recipes but most come out chalky chocolate tasting. Some have dark chocolate, some have cocoa, and some both. Is it the price that does this, they aren't cheap, but not the highest out there I'm sure, or is it something about the amount the recipes are asking for?

Any tip or advice would be great, I'm scratch recipes are my weakest area!!!!!! icon_sad.gif

Perhaps a chocolate syrup cake would be more to your liking:

Here's a link to my favourite basic chocolate cake recipe. It uses cocoa and is moist and everyone loves it. It is very simple to mix up. Give it a try. I decrease the water by 1/4cup.

I just won the Hershey Cocoa contest at a local fair using the recipe on the back of the Hershey cocoa box. My MIL is known for her chocolate cake but hubby tells me mine is the best! It is a very light, moist, chocolately cake-delicious!!
