street vendor NYC -- greenish
down south in this area -- garish red (unnaturally so!)
me on the BBQ -- black (on purpose -- yes I like them burnt)
I'd try:
tone the red w/ green to get a brownish tinge

bun: use a gold w/ a bit of brown
but of course, it all comes down to what you think looks right.
