I am making a stacked presents wedding cake this fall. I plan to use crusting buttercream and then attach a few fondant cut-outs of different design to each "present", such as snowflakes, leaves, etc. Then I will highlight the cut-outs with petal dust.
Which fondant recipe works best for this type of application?
Also, if you have a suggestion as to a better way of attempting this cake, I'm all ears! I am getting ready to make a practice cake.
Thanks! icon_smile.gif

I think whatever fondant you want to use will be okay. I would just brush the backs with a little vanilla or water. Don't use too much or it will make the fondant sticky!

I've seen a lot of people cover these kinds of cakes in fondant, but I like your idea of using bc. Then it would taste better!

Any fondant would be fine--just find one that you like the taste of. icon_wink.gif Just remember to roll the fondant out fairly thin, though, especially for large pieces--they may end up sliding down the sides of the cake if they are too big and heavy (especailly with a BC iced cake).
