Need an idea for a birthday cake, two tiers, girl, going to be 8. She is in love with all things horse and I need help with an interesting theme for this girl. Her party is being held at a riding facility which includes an outdoor roast/picinic. HELP! My brain has quit working and I cannot come up with anything!

ahhh, horses...My oldest--that's all we do for her.

For a customer--I've done a huge sheet cake with a 3-D red barn on it and plastic fences horses (from walmart) and fondant hay bales in the yard, with grass effect icing and rope borders, and little "horse shoe" prints all around the sides of the cake.

I've done a smaller sheet with a 6" round on it, carved a bit and all frosted to look like a grassy knoll, with a small waterfall running down the edge of the hill and off the side of the sheet cake, water edged with junior mints and whoppers (for rocks), blue sparkles in the water, flower sprinkles in the grass, and two Breyer horses stuck in the cake to look like Spirit and Rain from the movie.

I've done a cottage and a barn cake separately, with horses in a fenced yard on the cake board to look like they're in the yard of the cottage or in front of the barn.

hmm...what else? I think that's about it.

THIS year she's already dreaming of a fondant unicorn that she saw in a book somewhere....
