The only one that comes to mind is the grape leaf one on marthastewart.com under weddings.

Also you could do scrollwork to include grape vines and grapes and piped leaves.

Roman pillars? Sugared grapes? Wine glasses as support? Gumpaste tendrils?

is that enough...

There was a perfect one in one of the last American Cake Decorating Magazines. The square tiered cake was iced with a stucco finish, then bordered with beads. After that, it was airbrushed with Ivory to make it look like an old finish. It was then covered with grapes. Different colors were put in for the leaves to make them look more realistic and then miniature wine bottles were used for the dividers. Let me know if you want more info on which magazine, you can order them online. icon_biggrin.gif

Hello, I have a picture of a Villa Cake. It's a little flowery but I'm sure you could tone down the flowers a bit and make it with vines and grapes. I am trying to post...lets see if this works....
Good luck,
Renee

I'm thinking a cake that looks like venetian plaster. Very earthy gold/ivory colors. Maybe some piping that would resemble ironwork. Maybe some grapes or olive branches.

thanks folks for the suggestions, especially love the 'venetian plaster' concept....will keep that in mind....!!!! I know when I begin, something will come to mind - wine bottles, glasses, all sound like a good plan. Would love to do wrought-iron work somewhere too!!!!

I noticed this cake yesterday while checking out some celeb gossip icon_redface.gif It is the cake Jennifer Lopez had for her husbands birthday party.

angie..

you can do chocolate clay branches and hang sugared bunches of real grapes.

you can get super fine sugar and mix with edible glitter...you then brush the grapes with some water mixed with meringue powder and sprinke the sugar and edible glitter over them.

Make a tray with parchment paper to catch the stuff that fall off.

Then you can make some chocolate clay leaves to bring the grapes to life.

You can ice the cake with the stucco technique.
